Just Too Heavy "83"
I found some magic once!
Oh, but what a handful it was.
A tiny twinkling starburst
Like the shining eyes of night,
Flickering soft, on and off
As whimsical as candlelight.
Burning hot
Then turning cold
And so often just unclear
But instantly returning
Just to disappear!
A promise
To keep
A secret to keep
And a wonder to behold
And I longed to keep it so desperately,
I bought a ring to hold it in,
A band of finest gold!
Honey ya know its funny heh, heh
I bought this ring for ya once!
Size six
I wonder if it fits?
It still sits
In my dresser drawer
Waiting like a wish,
Hoping like a lover,
Eager for your touch,
And in all its trust
It still lies
With my sox and ties
Just collecting dust
And its almost comical,
I guess the laugh's on me,
But I could never measure its worth
Nor bring myself to hock it ,
For months I carried it secretly
Fondling it in my pocket.
Till it became this millstone around my neck
And just too heavy to bear it
So I put it away
Where it will stay
Until the day you where it.
