Lovers Leap "84"
I'm willing to venture the trail alone
Out to the edge of it all
Just for a look, just for the view
I will tread where I fear I may fall.
I know not what lies over that ridge
For I've never seen the other side
But I'd risk the walk as sure as I talk
Of the view that compels me to fly!
And I know not of the wonders that inhabit that cliff
Nor of the beauty below
But I'm driven by the hope
And the need to discover
What eagles and lovers both know.
Out there in the air where the clouds lie asleep
A human soul can take control
And lift him off his feet.
Damn, but it can make me reach!
Just over the edge where destiny waits,
Where mystery confronts me
And stares me in the face;
Where the tragedy of gravity
And the majesty of the deep
Offer atonement for the poets
And the promises we keep
With all the magic that inhabits
The moment lovers leap.
