Wazzo "91"

Some lights go out and fade to blackness.
And some stay lit
While others just practice.

Some lights go out when we turn them off
While others may fizzle without reason or cause.
But the light of a star is a different story
And must be placed in its own category.
For by the hand of Jehovah
Only stars go supernova!

Our burst of light
So intensely bright
It shattered the darkness and warmed the night!

On the edge of the road
A star explodes!
And we,
Who raced to set him free
And give him back to the sky,
Remember
How he held his fist so high
Even in death
'Neath the ferocious fury of the dragons breath.
His gesture said it all for me
A final bid
For immortality!

Oh great Knight we'll never forget
How your whole life avenged your death!
That gesture of glory
Concluded your story
Denying the fire its last request.

I know not whether death is truly right
But ultimately it's never wrong.
I know just that a star that burns twice as bright,
Can burn only half as long.

So what shall we give when our fire goes out
And the earth reaches up for its stars?
It's the best we can give,
That bit of our soul
That makes us just who we are.
